Series Example of Servant – I came to serve

-->

            I could not start this series with another subject rather than “to serve” because this is what we will be talking about – our example of servant – the Lord Jesus. We will learn with Him how to serve Him more and better. Maybe you’ll find out that you’ve been serving Him in your own way, and not the way He teaches. We can say that the majority of the people who want to serve God, and are willing to be assistants, pastor wives, or even evangelists, carry with them the desire to give themselves and be useful.

            Perhaps with time, conquering responsibilities, or the position they have in the Work, they lost the desire to serve and now they want to be served. Those who are served are considered lords and not servants. Many want to have a prominent position in the Work of God, work in a bigger church, and have people under their responsibility, etc. so starts the fight with the intention of being served, of feeling more important. He/She thinks that if he’s/she’s in that position will be more respected, will have people to serve him/her and won’t need to do anymore what he/she did before.

            Let’s analyze what Jesus thinks about it, and His answer to these people:  “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.  And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:43-45

            If He being God didn’t have pretension, why would we, mere human beings, have? He left us His example, but unfortunately this is not what we’ve been observing. On the other hand, we see servants that are capable of anything to reach their goals. It doesn’t matter if they will harm anyone to reach their purposes. These are people who do the Work but think more about themselves than to what they’ve been called for. Sometimes they even “serve” in the eyes of people but inside of them they didn’t want to be there. They don’t do things with pleasure, they serve sad, with limitations; they give their best when everything is the way they want, but when they’re contradicted they feel disfavored, do things in their way because they serve men and not God.

            To conclude we can say just one thing: those who think and act different from their Lord, are flesh and not Spirit, even if they were revealed; that’s why they cannot see further than their own belly button. Answer to yourself the following questions:

·      Do you serve the same way those who are above and under you?

·      Do you serve the same way when there’s someone near you and when you are alone?

·      Do you serve with pleasure or always complaining?

·      Do you say yes with your mouth but complain inside of you?

·      Do you serve on your own initiative or just when someone tells you so?

Analyze yourself and see if you’re being a servant or a lord. Did you come to serve or to be served?

Kisses to all, I wait for you here next Friday with the next post. However we continue with the posts for the youths on Tuesday and for the mothers and daughters on Wednesday. Spread it to social media using #SeriesExempleOfServant

Good day. Thank you very much foe this message, more especially for the personal questions. Most of the time we think God is satisfied by the way we serve Him, but it is such messages that actually help us to go back and reconsider the quality of service we are giving to God. Thank you for the eye opening moment.

Thank you for these ongoing series....
Analyzing myself with these questions, it is not the way it should be...I need to give my utmost service to anyone either to my family, superior, subordinates, colleagues and friends.

I'm so excited for the next post. Just by reading this for the first time I saw that if I am a Lord I limit God's work in my life. And even if I am a proud servant, which is one who doesn't want to progress, who thinks everything is okay, green as grass God's work is limited in me also.

What I really like about this series is that it allows us to think about how we are presenting ourselves to God. It's true that a lot of us have a strong desire to serve God more but don't realise at times that we pursue this desire in the wrong way eventually serving ourselves and our selfish intentions rather than God's. The questions allowed to think how I have been giving of myself and revealed that there are moments where I do act in a way that I want to be served but if Jesus Himself came to serve then who am I to demand otherwise? I will be following this post and really analysing myself accordingly. Thank you for the reminder and God bless

a perfect example of the meaning " serve " is Jesus he came to do what he was told to do and he did exactly as commanded, this is how i should be as a servant of God
