Surely you have heard this
expression in the church “to give freedom to the Holy Spirit,” but what does it
really mean?
The Holy Spirit speaks
with us to help us; He gives us warnings so that we avoid making mistakes and
suffer. He tells us: “you are being proud, you are stubborn, this choice is not
good for you, or you are very emotional.”
When we do not pay
attention and ignore the care of the Holy Spirit, it’s in this moment that we don’t
give freedom for Him to work in our life, to correct us, and to bring us back
to faith.
If we don’t listen to Him
and acknowledge what’s inside of us, how can He help us clean up?
Our resistance prevents the
action of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Not because He has no power to work,
after all He is God; but because we’re rebellious and we neglect it, we do not
give Him freedom to work in us, and to mold us according to our will.
It is only possible to be
sensitive to His voice when we live in communion with God, when we seek to know
what He wants from us, what we can improve, and how we can please Him.
How many times for not
listening to God you suffered, wept and bitterly repented? Notice that if you
have resisting the voice of God or you’ve been attentive and submissive to what
He says.
“My
sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John
10:27
