“Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water that I shall give him will become in him a well of water springing up into eternal life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not thirst, nor come here to draw.” John 4:13-15
The physical water represents the pleasures of this world, which even though are very attractive they bring momentary joy and satisfaction. However those who are dependent of the “water” that this world offers are frustrated and disappointed. These pleasures bring pain and suffering.
The Lord wanted to show to that woman the difference between the water she had to offer, momentary and illusory, and the water He has for us, living and eternal water. Those who cannot let go of the pleasures of the flesh cannot receive the Holy Spirit that is seal of our salvation.
Many prefer what is temporary and despise what is eternal. God let us choose, but the decision will always be ours. What is the water that you wish my friend?
