What are you lacking?

Good teacher,” he asked, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus answered:
You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.” “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.” Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.” Mark 10:17-22
A young man came up to Jesus with the desire to be saved, asking what he needed to do. Jesus told him that he would have to practice the Word of God, and he being very confident and even thought that he was relieved, saying that he already did this.
However, it turns out that it wasn’t sufficient, Jesus had something else to say, “Go, and sell everything you have and give to the poor, then come and follow me”; this word fell like a bomb to his ears. He was not expecting such thing!

Could it be that Jesus went too far? What do you think?
No! Jesus was telling this boy, this was great, but it is not enough, you are missing one thing, I want your life completely, not halfway. Jesus wanted to show him that even though he knew the Word of God and obeyed it, still, his heart was not in God but remained imprisoned to something, that he simply could not renounce. God never asks of something that we cannot give.
Friends, the same thing happens today. Perhaps you attend the church, you know the bible and even obey and practice what is written. You don’t lie. You don’t deceive people. You seek to be faithful and honest. But who knows if you have something that God has been asking you for that you have not had the courage to surrender. When God asks of you, you get sad like the youth of the biblical passage and give your back and ignore Him.

You have a sensation of well-being because you’re not doing wrong things but at the same time you are aware that your heart does not belong to God because something exists that you have not been able to renounce. It could be a desire, a habit, a friendship, a dream, a feeling. I don’t know!
But what God asks of you, do not be afraid to surrender, for only this way, will your heart be with Him completely and this is what guarantees your salvation. Which is what that youth wanted so badly, but because his heart was in his riches, he was not able to conquer.
Is Jesus really the first in your heart or could it be that something is taking His place? Now that we are in the Fast of Daniel, take this moment to make a total surrender.
I would really like to read your comments!
Remain in the faith!
