God called us to win souls and to make disciples for Him, but there
are people who want to win others for themselves. They have the following
thought: "I will increase my reign, it doesn’t matter who will come after and
replace me. While I’m in this church, I
will care about the success of my reign”.
We have a good example of someone who acted in this fleshy way in
the Bible, Absalom; he wanted to win the people for himself, therefore he
caused great destruction among the people of Israel.
He wasn’t really worried about the welfare of the people, he wanted
to usurp the kingdom of his father David; he was thinking about himself, he
didn’t think about the people at any moment.
To make things worse, he would instigate people against the king by
telling them that the king didn’t care about them, and isn’t that what we still
see today?
There’s a lot of people living like this; they think about
themselves in everything they do, in their success, in being loved and admired by
people; however, they don’t bother to bring people closer to God, to have love
and admiration for Him.
And this applies to everyone, not only to those who serve on the
altar.
Read very carefully, it's very strong:
“Now Absalom would rise early and stand beside the way to the
gate. So it was, whenever anyone who had a lawsuit came to the king for a
decision, that Absalom would call to him and say, “What city are you from?” And
he would say, “Your servant is from such and such a tribe of Israel.”
Then Absalom would say to him, “Look, your case is good and
right; but there is no deputy of the
king to hear you.”
Moreover Absalom would say, “Oh, that I were made judge in
the land, and everyone who has any suit
or cause would come to me; then I would give him a justice.”
And so it was, whenever anyone came near to bow down to him,
that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him.
In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to
the king for judgement. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.” 2 Samuel 15:2-6

This is so serious that it has made take a very deep look on my heart. I need to seek the direction and my mind has to of God. I can see that it is easy to want to be adored and glorified by people like satan did this why he was cast down. The sin of pride is truly dangerous.
When we serve God, we should not serve with the intention to benefit us. After all we say everyday its to glorify His name but when we serve to become someones favourite etc its like we are basically glorifying ourselves.
