“Swim and Swim and die on the beach”

"Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, “Let not the king do wrong to his servant David; he has not wronged you, and what he has done has benefited you greatly. 1 Samuel 19:4
Do you dare fight against the will of God? Perhaps the first answer that comes to your mind is: "No way, it would be a waste of time." But we do it every time we do not accept God's will for our lives.
King Saul did it, and maybe you without realizing it have proceeded in the same manner. God had chosen David to reign in Saul’s place, but he was fighting with all his strength so that no one would conquer his throne, we can say that Saul "swam and swam and died on the beach," certainly no one can fight against God .
I would also like to point out Jonathan’s attitude regarding what was happening.
Jonathan was Saul's son and therefore heir to the throne after the death of his father. He could have also been interested in ending David’s life, since he was going to take all of his "Rights" away, the throne of Israel. At the end of the day, the whole family would be very hurt; he could have chosen to stay on his father side.
But see the difference between them; Saul became very rebellious, even against God himself, showing hatred, anger and rebellion. Instead, Jonathan proved to be submissive and to have the character of God, accepting His will, he ignored his father’s game to turn against God, and accepted it and submitted to the will of God.
And you, have you submitted yourself to God’s will for your life or have you been fighting him? You already know, you would swim and swim and die on the beach, for who can fight against God himself? How many times have you instead in doing it? You been rebellious, you have been very angry, wanting to do everything your way, and certainly the consequences were not good.
If you have gone through a similar experience, please leave your comments, and be sure that it will help others.
I'll leave you some examples that will help:
* You insisted on a relationship knowing that it wasn’t the will of God.
* You did not accept when another person took a responsibility for something that to your point of view you should have been chosen.
* God gave guidance, but you wanted to do things your way.

Would this also be a point: God wants a certain path (serving on the alter) for your life, but you want an education or a career?

A relationship... I was in a relationship for ten yrs. I questioned why i continued if i was not even sure if i loved him. but continued yr after yr trying to make it work. then when it finally ended, instead of waiting and fixing myself i jumped straight into another one. which was worse then the one prior. When i arrived at the IURD I was still in that relationship and would pray every single day for God to change him even though God would tell me to leave him i continued to try to keep the relationship alive. When I finally opened my eyes and left him is when my life finally started to move forward. Its better to obey now and sacrifice now, then to sacrifice later but end in tears...

For me it would be wanting something at the wrong time. God knows what is best and what we need but if we are too anxious for a position, title or other blessings we do what Saul did in a way because he only wanted what was best for himself and not God.

Dear Mrs. Tania

When we come to God and surrender our lives to Him we should learn and understand what it means to surrender.....letting God's will be done in our lives.

Hello, last year I received a call for a job at Waltham , MA. But ignored it because it was too far. At that moment I knew that it was God's will but I ignored it. That very same day I received a call for the same job but a different person. So I accepted it.Now I just got hired for a closer loc for the same company.

Yes its true sometimes people do their own will instead of Gods because what he is asking for is too hard so the person denies God without even realizing it. I remember last year there was a cast party for the play I was doing at school and I really wanted to go, knowing that temptation lied ahead of me. But when I asked my mom for permission she said no. I got really angry but she said there was nothing at that party that was good for me I got angry and I ended taking my anger out on God and I didn’t go to church that Sunday I ended missing a very important event I realize now that doing my own will, will only make me fall in my faith but doing Gods will make me rise up and stronger!

Hi Mrs.Tania:
Sometimes when God talk we don't want to listen. For example: I told the pastor that this guy told me that he likes me. And the pastor told me that if he told me that he ain't right because he is leaving to his country soon. Pastor told me, "Do not listen to him". Me dumb didn't listen to the pastor and disobey the pastor and went out with the guy. The point is that God has plans for each one of us, he wants us to do his will, but we choose to do our own will and that's not right. WE MUST GIVE UP OUR WILL IN ORDER TO PLEASE GOD.

This is so true! When one wants to do things their own way, it does not work out. But once one is humble enough to hear God's voice, and actually put out into action, then everything comes out just fine.

Thank you Ms. Tania for this message.

Many times, i did things my way instead of God's way. The problem was that i followed how i felt even though i knew God's way was better. ive learnt to obey and ever since i decided to fully surrender myself things have changed. I cant be a servant and not obey they voice of God! even if there small things to obey but in the long run i can then take on bigger accomplishments.

We tend to want to see things happen in our lives to prove a point, and we want to do things our way and we end up loosing everything.Thank you cause this message has prove to me and many other that we can not do anything without God

I could remember when I was perhaps 16 years old I had the holy spitit, I had my parents respect and trust. Although all that changed when I was about to turn 18. I was rebellious I wanted everything my way no matter who it heart or what it took to get it. My parents didn't belive me any more; I lived a double life. Now that I am 20, I know realize that all my strength all my hard work to fit in was in vain. Now I know if I had done Gods will before I would not have allowed hate or envy come to me.

Great message! It is so true that many of us have something hidden within and the thought of having someone notice it does bother us because we feel that we have had it well hidden all along, but we end up being scared of facing the reality that it will end up being revealed . The secret is to avoid such situations.

God bless

Tina

I went through a similar phase a few years ago. I was used to doing things my own way from a young age and only listened to advice that was in favour of what I wanted and each time I would only attract more problems to myself. It caused me to be stuck in life as well as frustrated because I was going against God's will.
