Convincing

Have you seen those product television commercials? They are so convincing, they speak with such certainty that you don’t doubt buying what they’re selling you, they convince you that what they’re selling is truly good, and sometimes it can even be “trash”, but because they spoke with such sureness, they made you believe that if you bought that product, you’d get the result you want from it.

Christians sometimes can’t win souls, because they don’t seem able to pass certainty with the words they speak. They express themselves with fear, a shaky voice, without looking you in the eyes, they are so insecure when speaking about Jesus that nobody believes in what they are saying.

Their words don’t convince people, not because they aren’t true or sincere, but because they can’t express the trueness and reality of what they’re speaking. That’s why they can’t reach out to those they speak to, they even raise curiosity about knowing God, but in few words, they speak the truth as if were a lie and that’s why no one believes.

When you speak about Jesus, speak with courage, without fear, be firm, and convincing, so that everyone can see you’re sure about what you’re talking about, that it’s not a mere story or fairy tale, but the purest truth.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;” Isaiah 61:1

God didn't give us the spirit of fear so therefore we cannot allow the devil to paralyze our faith by using fear.We have to be Bold!

This is so true. I will always remember the first time I went out to evangelise; I would hardly speak because I didn't think people would want to listen to me. But when they did listen, for me it was something great; and that gave me confidence to want to speak to more people. I remember watching the pastor speaking to the sterotype youth, and the way he greeted this youth in a way that the youth could relate to. This made me realise that people don't care if you can't speak well, all they are interested in is if you can relate to them - this is where your confidence lies. When you are convinced, your words flow out naturally; you don't have to worry what you will say.

I totally agree with you, when we go to a store and we ask the sales assistants about a specific product, they immediately answer back with such boldness and enthusiasm; letting you know about the functions that the product has to offer. There are moments they may even lie! But the customer still ends up buying the product. How much is it more when we People of God tell people about God and what He can do in their lives, it doesn't compare because what we say is not a lie but it is a FACT. So when we go out to speak to people about our God, we should do it in boldness and so much assurance that it won't be us convincing but God convincing.

Hi Mrs Tania,

I totally agree. What came to my mind was that verse that says 'The Kingdom of God is taken by force'. When evangelising, we have to be bold and fearless when we approch people.

I can not speak very well because sometimes my words gets messed up and sometimes I can not express myself as I want.

However, I always remember when God rebuked Moses because he used that 'excuse'. This does not stop me from talking to people anymore.

It is really rewarding when people stop to listen to you and take a City News paper, you know you have done your part, now the rest is left up to God to do His part.
