Cornered

Have you ever felt like this, trapped?

Well, know that you’re not the only one. I have also felt this way and Daniel, the biblical character whom we have been talking about lately has felt this way too.
Look what happened when the Babylonian wise men could not reveal the king's dream:

"Then the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon." Daniel 2:12

Do not forget that Daniel was part of the team of wise men, although he was not present at that time.

"Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven." Daniel 2: 17-19.

And here is the question: What has been our reaction when we feel cornered, in a difficult situation, or an injustice?
In those moments when we raise our voices and say, "what do I do now? There is no way out.”
This "kill" could be a problem in your life, that in eyes there is no solution; a threatening thought that you will not be able to achieve what you want; an injustice and you do not know how to prove your innocence; a doubt that does not leave you alone; a negative thought that is hammering in your head, etc.

We see clearly that Daniel turned to God immediately, but this is not always what happens to us. Our reaction quite often is:
- Wanting to solve the problem on your own strength
- Despair
- Stand up against the person who is committing injustice or evil
- Dismiss the person and treat them as badly as they have treated us
- Take revenge
- Becoming overwhelmed by fear, escape the problem and hide
- Complain about the situation
- Give up the fight
- Accept the situation, settle down

Daniel has not done any of that, all those things I mentioned above are a waste of time, these reactions are of the flesh, emotions, not of intelligent faith.
The intelligent faith leads us to seek the solution in God, not our feelings, or thoughts or even in our own strength.
Do you see the importance of living and walking in the Spirit, as we mentioned in the first post about Daniel? The reaction is completely different when we are in the Spirit, because the flesh does not prevail.

And you, what has been your reaction in a difficult situation, which of the above you reactions have you seen yourself doing more?
I want to read your comments!

Thank you Mrs Tania for the post.

I have also been in a situation that cornered me to the point that I wanted to explain my innocence and justify my case. This in turn made me to be as bad as though I have committed something wrong. After that I learnt that its important to put all our cases in Gods hands so that He may prove His presence in our lives as He did with Daniel

Hi Mrs Tania when I felt cornered with a situation I would go straight to God but there's a difference to how I use to go to Him and how I do now. The difference is at first I would go to Him and cry out, one would say it's a good reaction but it wasn't because I was literally 'crying out' I was just being so emotional that I would complain in my prayer I would say things like "Oh if you are God then the situation has to change because your not a weak God", again one would say but that's fine to say in a prayer but no it wasn't because it was an emotional prayer but not one of faith and trust.

But as I have been working on being less emotional, this week I faced a lil situation where I felt cornered and I even cried but it was only because I was on my days lol, whilst I was crying I was even laughing because I said to myself I don't want to cry but immediately as I was on my way home I went to my sanctuary and spoke to God but this time I cried out in faith. Instead of complaining I was reminding God of the God whom He was, well I was more reminding myself but that prayer of faith lifted me back up and I continued my life as nothing happened because I trust that God will work.

Thanks for this post xx

Thank you Mrs Tania for the post, I also have been in a situation that I felt cornered. As much as I would pour out my grief to God and putting the situation under His control, I was overwhelmed by grief and also I would do one of the point in your list I would dismiss this person even though I wouldn't treat them the same. Thank you for the post because it has been helpful to me.
