A Fathers’ Love

When we reach our teenage phase, we think we know it all, we want to discover the brightness of this world and we simply do not have notion of the dangers.

At that age I thought that my parents were very old fashion and exaggerated.

All I was asking for was a little bit of freedom, why couldn’t I go camping with my friends? There isn’t anything wrong with that, I would think to myself. Or go to places at night? In the end it was just group outings, so what was the big deal?

I thought they didn’t understand me. How could they not be touched, if sometimes I even cried? It was so easy for them to say “No”

When I became an adult, I began to understand their behavior and that they were just trying to protect me.

It was their way of “saving” me of the evils of this world, because they loved me and didn’t want anything bad to happen to me.

Many people consider the Word of God to strict or full of rules.

But the Word of God puts limits on us to protect us.

All the warnings and God’s Law, is not to deprive us from happiness but instead to allow us to enjoy happiness abundantly.

His love as a Father implements rules with the intention to avoid watching us suffer, to avoid the dangers that we ourselves do not have the notion that even exists.

How many people have lived a life without rules and are today suffering the consequences? How many girls have been left pregnant at 12,13 years of age because they refuse to listen? How many youths have caught AIDS or other transmittable sexual diseases because they are living a “crazy life”? How many have died from an overdose for living in a life of addictions without thinking of their tragic ending? How many drift away into the wrong path after having mixed with the wrong crowd?

How different their lives would be if they had obeyed the Word of God, right?

God’s discipline is for our own good, He loves us so much and that is why he knows how to say “No”, only a father who does not truly love, would allow complete freedom to his child, without caring what could happen to them.

“The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” Psalm 19:7

Hi dear Tania,

This is so strong and true. Discipline and limits are there to protect, and the son that really loves and respects will also obey. As our Lord Jesus did, He obey everything the father has asked, and because of His obedience we are here today. John 14:15 says, "If you love me, you will obey what I command."

Hi Tania
This is so true. Our parents want the best for us even do we don't like how they are over protective but they just don't want us to suffer later and the same goes with God he wants us to follow his obedience for us get save because he loves us.

Hello, this is so true. My father would always like me do what I wanted and my mother would always say no to me. I hated my mother and loved my father. But now that I think about it, it was my mother who prayed for me church, it was my mother who slept with me when I had an anxiety attack, it was my mother who worried about me. I believe did love me but i just did not see that the evil forces confused my father and used me to make my mother's life rough. I pray for forgiveness for the lord. And you bet God disciplined me. Now I know better! Great message!
