Choose the most appropriate skirt for your body type:

“A” Line Skirt :
Main Features:

This skirt has a straight cut and it’s right on the waist, and wider at the bottom.

Who can use it?

Women who have wider hips, and have "pear" shaped bodies can abuse of this type of skirt. Enjoy!

Women with "apple" shaped bodies as well can use these skirts but you must be careful because it’s meant to fit just right on the waist and if it has pins it can mark your stomach in an unfortunate way.

Women with “grape” shaped bodies or “backward triangle” shaped bodies can use these types of skirts a lot. It creates more volume in the lower portion of your body, creating a balance in between the upper part of your body as well as the lower part of your body.

Women with “hourglass” shaped bodies, i.e , have broad shoulders and hips and you are thin at your waist, can also use these types of skirts.

Women with “rectangular” shaped bodies can use this type of skirt because it fits right on the waist giving an interesting effect on your hips, and creating the illusion of well defined curves.

Red Light

For those of you who are overweight, when using the “A” Line Skirt, take into consideration the following details: If the type of skirt has pins or if the skirt is too wide at the bottom. Instead give preference to model types with straight cuts on the waits and opening which aren’t too wide to avoid creating too much volume.

FLARED SKIRTS :
Main Features :

It’s a skirt which allows for lots of movement because it is loose, and when its long it’s a lot like the “hippie” style. It’s different from the “A” Line because at the bottom it is more volume generally its made with thinner fabric and tends to stick to the body despite it’s straight cut. ( This happens when it does not have several layers or fabric or tulle underneath).

Who can use it?

Women with “grape” or “backward triangle” shaped bodies can use these types of skirts, because it creates volume in the lower part of your body, creating a balance with the upper part of the body, which is wider, and the lower part of the body, generating a balance between both.

PENCIL SKIRTS :

Main Features :
It’s a skirt with a straight cut and slim fitting to the waist.

Who can use it?

Women with “grape” or “backward triangle” shaped bodies, who have broader shoulders and less hips, they can use this style because they have thinner hips. Of course there are styles which are more favorable then others.

Women with “hourglass” shaped bodies ( more or less same measurements in the bust area and hips) , can use this style, as long as your hips aren’t too big because this type of skirt emphasizes on this part of the body.

Women with “rectangular” shaped bodies ( More or less same measurements in the bust, waist and hip areas) , can also use this style because it also fits right on the waist and gives the interesting effect on the hips creating the illusion of well defined curves.

Red Light

Women with “pear” shape bodies (wide hips) should avoid this type of skirt. Because it is narrow and slim fitting it looks better on women with slimmer hips. Avoid them!

Women with “apple” shape bodies should also avoid them because of the narrow cut on the waist, which is the widest part of your body. It can create an optical illusion which widens your whole body.

CROSSED SKIRT :
It’s the type of skirt that you cross over on your waist and tie it with a bow or button. To guarantee it to fit right it is necessary for it to be the right length. If not, the skirt can open at the moment you sit down. Chubby women should opt for using the skirt longer, approximately 2 fingers underneath your knees.

Shorter women can use the skirt a bit shorter. If the skirts fabric is jean material or another casual material, feel free to use it on a daily basis, with more elegant fabrics use it for work or for a dinner.

PLAID SKIRTS :
Adds volume to the hips. This type of skirt only works for women with small hips. This skirt is ideal for work or parties. In this case, choose a style with elegant fabric.

BALLOON SKIRTS :
Main features :

This skirt imitates the form of a balloon. It starts at the waist line and opens up at the end and fluffs up adopting the form of a balloon.

Who can use it? :

Women with “rectangular” shaped bodies, can use this type of skirt, because it adds volume to the lower part of your body, which gives illusion of curves and larger gluteus.

Women with “hourglass” shaped bodies, can also use these skirts, taking into consideration that they don’t have legs and hips too big.

The same happens with women who have “grape” or “backwards triangle” shaped bodies , they can use these skirts as long as they are not overweight.

I usually wear any type of skirts except pencil skirts, because I am already slim and this defines my figure too much. But its always handy to know which suits best. Thanks.
