“For
where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
The value of a man is defined by the kind
of object he loves and surrenders himself to. Wherever his treasure is, there
his life shall be. If his treasure is Jesus, then his life is totally dedicated
to Him, nothing and no one will ever get hold of his heart. For if his treasure
is Jesus, his heart is in Jesus. Who could touch him?
But if his treasure is on perishable
things, on a husband, wife, children or on his own reputation, then his heart
shall be on those things. And when those things come under attack, his heart
will be stricken. For this reason we were taught: “Keep your heart with all
diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)
The truth is when we sincerely put our lives
in God, making Him our treasure, we receive back: “But seek first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Be wise and make the Lord Jesus your
treasure, so your life and your heart shall be safely kept.
