Friendship

You’ve probably heard that phrase “In the work of God there are no friends” but this refers to the spiritual side. How so?
Let me explain, although we move from cities, states and countries, of course over the years we make valuable friendships, even though we are not always close or cannot contact each other, we know that our friends are always there when we need them, and it is good to know that we can count on each other prayers.
So let’s see when we can say that in the work of God there are no friends:
- We cannot put our friends above God, in other words depend on them to the point of resorting to them when we have a problem, rather than depend on God.
- The blessings in the work of God cannot happen through a friendship, it has to be something of the Spirit and not of the flesh, we like the person but we see that there is no spiritual condition for a certain responsibility; then we cannot act through friendship.
- We can never cover up a friend’s mistake, or support them in what is wrong, we would not actually be true friends, seeing them walk towards evil and stay silent about the situation, affecting with them the work of God and allowing their life to be destroyed.
- Feeding a friendship that does not contribute to our spiritual wellbeing is not wise, if we see that the person is not spiritual, likes to contaminate you, likes to gossip, is inclined to worldly things;  adds nothing good to your live, stay away from her. This does not mean you’re a bad friend, but that you take care of your salvation above all.
As you can see, we have friends; we do not have a friendship with evil, with what is wrong, because the work of God is above all this.
Who is friend of God is meant to be our friend, if you live in illusions and are not on the side of what is good, I’m sorry, but you cannot be considered my friend.
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”    2 Corinthians 6:14

Thats very true Mrs Tania Indeed we should always have friends of the same faith so that we wont be taken away from salvation. But my question is I had a friend in the church but at one point she did something bad that made her lose her responsibility in the church, yet she is sorry and still come to the church, should I talk to her or should I avoid her? because I have already started avoiding her.

Some of the worst people I have met have been in the church, been in the churc for 14 years. I have kept my distance, to keep me sane.
